24 and 25 october it was time for THE BIG ONE: The CQ WW SSB Contest.
ON forehand it would not be the big one for us this year. With a 3 and a half man team and no antenna for 15m a real topscore would be impossible. Despite thjis fact we decided to go for it and enjoy this special contest to the max.
The 2015 team consisted of (rookie) Richard PD4RD, Dervin PD9DX, Ronald PA3EWP and Alex PA1AW and to enjoy it to the max we decided to go for the M2 category. Two “fully loaded” stations where there to provide the fun and as antennas we had dipoles for 160, 80 and 40m, 5 el yagi’s on 20 and 10 meters, 1/4 vertical on 80m and a 4-squaire for 40m. Not bad but one band missing = lot of QSO’s and multipliers missing 🙁
We sure had fun. Richard PD4RD experienced his first CQ WW SSB contest and started the contest on 40m. We all know what he experienced and when you survive this you can handle everything 🙂 Welcome to SSB contesting Richard 🙂
